AI Board Discusses Compliance and Strategy for EU AI Act Implementation
The AI Board, comprising high-level representatives from EU Member States, convened today under the leadership of Mr. Dariusz Standerski, Polish Secretary of State at the Ministry of Digital Affairs. The morning session featured a strategic discussion on EU AI policy led by Executive Vice-President Henna Virkkunen, who presented the Commission’s latest initiatives and priorities aimed at advancing AI governance across the Union.
Member States participated in a roundtable discussion, sharing insights on their national governance approaches for implementing the AI Act. This exchange provided valuable perspectives on compliance strategies and highlighted the importance of harmonized efforts in addressing regulatory challenges.
The afternoon agenda included critical decisions on joint communication strategies and compliance support mechanisms for the AI Act. The AI Office provided updates on deliverables such as AI system definitions, prohibitions guidelines, the third draft of the Code of Practice for general-purpose AI, and the call for the scientific panel. These deliverables are essential for ensuring the smooth adoption and enforcement of the AI Act.
A technical briefing by the AI Office Safety team concluded the meeting, offering insights into recent AI advancements and emerging regulatory challenges. The outcomes of this meeting will play a pivotal role in shaping the next steps for implementing the AI Act and fostering a coordinated EU approach to AI governance.
